Bad news first...

Bad news first: I did not get a research grant I applied for in December, unfortunately. The money would have been extremely helpful for me to go on with my study. My proposal was met with dismissal. I forwarded the email to my two colleagues that wrote the letters of recommendation for me. For me it is important that my supporters know about the outcome of the entire process – so, I always let them know about the procedure and results. The refusal is not only annoying because of the money I did not get. It means also I need to work on new options. So, the plan for the long Easter weekend is to search online for other funding opportunities and write more proposals. Since the weather does not look like spring, it is ok to spend the days in front of the computer again.

Better news next: I attended an interesting and so important meeting organized by my dear and longtime friends from Tel Aviv University, Moshe Dayan Center https://dayan.org/ . I got the opportunity to bring in my German perspective in a discussion with colleagues from all over the world on: “Israel: 5 months of war”. It was interesting to hear about the views of people from Israel, the US, the Gulf, Brazil, Argentina, Poland and even Pakistan. It was an informal exchange so we were able to bring in our different experiences and approaches. It is a painful situation we are all in. I find it comforting to speak frankly–at least in a forum like this.

Since I published last week some links about videos and articles I wrote in here, I got very nice replies. One friend told me she finally understood some historical issues, she never understood in school or later in her life. Made me very happy to hear that and thank you very much for sharing!

Also, some people asked, what else I am doing 😊 Please find here a few more links you can follow to read about methods in history classes (you can even print the instruction!) and one text I wrote which was used for a tutorial for one of my videos. Only available in German… I am sorry.

Also, I attached the full list of my videos and articles on this website. If you want to watch or learn more, please have a look on the navigation menu above, subsite "publications, 2024". You can download both lists as pdf files. If you like you can have a look here https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Melanie-Schmoll too. In this sense: I hope you have great long Easter weekend – mine will be covered with writing, see above 😉
