...the Germans are no longer in the tournament!
I guess that means the window of distraction is over... No more "bread and circuses", back to real life!
France has voted. And although the media and press wanted us to believe that the "right" would come to power, the "left" has now won. It makes you wonder: How could they be so wrong? Or were they not wrong at all and just wanted to sell it to us that way? The greatest possible scaremongering? There seems to be no other way - everything always has to be super terrible, super upsetting and completely chaotic! If you read the news, it's not one car hitting another in an accident - no, it "crashes"!
And when you hear statements in interviews, everything is always "unbelievable", "incredible" or "unprecedented".
Language is used without reflection. It's always all about superlatives.
The same was also true in the reporting on the elections in France. The president is suddenly "arrogant" and "haughty" for calling new elections. Because he is doing what the citizens, and even his political opponents, have been calling for in the event that the European elections turn out the way they did.
Who is arrogant if they don't listen to the will of the voters? Do the press and politicians think they have to protect the sovereign? Is that the idea behind it? If so, I would strongly suggest taking another course in political education.
Democracy means change!
And discussion and struggle and let the sovereign, the PEOPLE, do the job!
In addition to major global politics, I can report on successes in my projects. I've sent one text back to the publisher and almost completed another one. There will be a few more reviews, but then these two things will be written.
As far as my travel plans are concerned, a few things have changed - unfortunately not for the better. Oh, and I didn't get any answers from my Canadian colleagues on Monday because they actually had a day off again. In Canada, there is an extra day off almost every month. And if a public holiday falls on a weekend, then Monday is still free! And then they always say that we Germans have so many days off - when we actually have to vote on a Sunday! Unlike in Israel, for example, where elections were held on a Tuesday when I was there and everyone had the day off so that they had time to go to the polls. Unbelievable.
Speaking of Israel... the Northern front is still under constant fire and people continue to live as internally displaced persons throughout the country. This is unlikely to change with the new school year (https://www.timesofisrael.com/sirens-or-school-bells-evacuated-northern-students-dont-know-where-theyll-be-next-fall/). At the moment “60,000 civilians from northern Israel are relocated at the outset of the war, 14,600 are children, scattered in temporary kindergartens and schools”.
And the supposed "aid organisation" UNRWA is now finally being brought to justice https://www.juedische-allgemeine.de/israel/unrwa-vor-gericht/
But as we all know: Being right and getting right are two different things. All that remains for us to do is continue to look closely. I'll definitely do it!
