It is interesting how many new opportunities and developments can be packed in one single week! At least my last week was stuffed. Last Sunday I attended a conference organized by https://www.international.ucla.edu/israel/home about “Israel after October 7”.
Unlike the usual beginning of academic panels and conferences the host started to ask the panelists about their very own feelings, right now at this very moment. The answers of the panelists were honest and moving.
If you are interested you can watch the recorded conference here https://www.international.ucla.edu/israel/article/275326 The speakers and panelists were well chosen - among them, my longtime friend and colleague Dr. Nimrod Goren, https://mitvim.org.il/en/team/dr-nimrod-goren/ president and founder of Mitvim. Mitvim is the “Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policy”. Nimrod is a fighter for peace. He generously supported my field trip with students from University of Hamburg in 2016, when he gave a talk without charging us. We were unable to provide any kind of honorarium, except dinner 😉 – but Nimrod did not even want to hear about. He just wanted to spread the word and meet German students. I also like to announce that I am working with a brilliant new author. She works for the same online learning platform I work on. I am the external editor for history and my new author provides texts and little exams, while I do the checking and internal control. Based on her support we published some very nice new tests for pupils this week. I am not only checking my authors text, but also write scripts for video clips. Here are four examples of my work. Besides the usual work and writing, I also learned about a very interesting organization. It is called "Internationale Gesellschaft für Schulbuch- und Bildungsmedienforschung e.V." and is based in Augsburg, Germany https://www.uni-augsburg.de/de/fakultaet/philsoz/fakultat/padagogik/schulbuch-gesellschaft/ . I had a very friendly zoom meeting with one of my colleagues about the association and its work this week. I was invited to join the annual conference in September this year and I will certainly go, if time allows!All in all, the week was full of new options on all fronts.
That´s probably because of the spring!
